Hester Street Fair Round-up

On Sunday June 6, Vintage Thrift hit the wide open roads heading downtown and ended up parking its "pop-up shop" at the highly touted Hester St. Fair in Lower East Side. Co-created by former MTV reporter SuChin Pak, the fair is unlike other flea markets in that vendors change from week to week. Their reasons are doubly smart: to keep the selection fresh and to broaden LES community involvement.

Vintage Thrift is especially happy to be involved, as many of our donations are received from the nearby Grand St. Co-op. In a beautiful twist of karma, the proceeds from the donations benefit the United Jewish Council's senior citizen center, located in the same area.

The fair runs each Saturday and Sunday 10am-6pm through December, so you'll have plenty of chances to check it out. And if Luke's Lobster Roll is there, do yourself a favor and splurge on the combo.

New Auction Window: Donghia

Little fuss is needed here; the Donghia 'Anziano' speaks for itself. A set of six of the design world heavy hitters stand stark against the minimalist space. The only other item worthy of the auction is the rough-hewn light fixture.

Auction ends at 8:00pm, Tuesday June 22. Bids may be placed on the auction clipboard near the register, or by phone (212) 871-0777.

New Auction Window: Asian Deco-r

Step into the decorative, yet sleek Asian Deco-r room. An utterly modern Deco vanity (with Bakelite and brass pulls) holds exotic treasures-- a glass encased Geisha doll, complete Bakelite chess set, and delicate poppy red hand-painted teacups (2). On the floor you'll find a mechanics-defying glass and brass clock, wool Indian rug, chic black cat bookends, and a set of 9 vases. As for the walls, the vintage chandelier, Greek wallpaper, and antique embroidered silk medallion are also available.

Asian Deco-r ends at 8pm, Tuesday June 15. As always, bidding sheets are available on the clipboard near the register.
