Look for us on HBO's Miniseries "Mildred Pierce"

There are two very cool things about HBO's remake of Mildred Pierce (1945):   1. it's directed by Todd Haynes, whose former work includes the Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There, and 2.  it features items from our very own racks!

The five-part miniseries stars Kate Winslet as titular character Mildred Pierce (a role made famous by the inimitable Joan Crawford) and Evan Rachel Wood as Veda, Winslet's willful brat of a daughter (evil wench is a more appropriate description, but you didn't hear it from us). The film follows the Pierces as they struggle to keep up with the Joneses, as it were, during the height of the Great Depression.  As Vogue puts it, Mildred Pierce is relevant for today's world as "a wonderful examination of the cost of living, the price of dignity, the illusion of class, and the judgments of snobbery."

Actress Wood adds that "... people are going to freak out. [the film] gets crazier and crazier" as it goes on. The climax - and much buzzed about nude scene - are worth seeing this one through. The dramatic trailer alone was enough to give us Black Swan-like chills.

The series opener airs this Sunday, March 27 at 9pm EST. We'll be perched and ready to spot a pair of the palest yellow Queen Anne style chairs, a cross between those shown below. They barely lasted two days on our sales floor before Mildred Pierce's prop stylist scooped them up.
